Indigestion is basically caused due to bad food habits and due to consumption of unhealthy food.
Foods that cause Indigestion are as follows:

Generally heavy intake of oily foods or deep fried foods affects the digestive organs of the body. Large intake of such kinds of fatty foods results in slow digestion rate of the body. The stomach breaks down the fats into smaller pieces and then they are sent to the small intestine for further break down of fats.
When a person consumes a large amount of fats at one time our stomach finds it difficult to break down these fats into smaller pieces and it remains in the stomach for some time, thus causing stomach ache and digestion problems. Fatty foods or greasy foods include deep fried fish or chicken, French fries, popcorns and hamburgers.
Consumption of spicy foods generally causes a burning sensation in the stomach and in the throat. Spicy foods irritate the lining of the esophagus thus causing heartburn. Excess use of chilly and pepper makes food spicy.

Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cold coffee often contain excess amount of caffeine in them which causes stomach upset. Caffeine increases the acid level in the stomach. If you do not eat anything with drinks containing caffeine the chances of you to suffer from indigestion increases. In such a situation you generally suffer from nausea.

These substances are not easily broken by the body and they remain in the stomach thus causing bacterial infection which causes bloating. Soy products also contain trypsin which hinders the digestion of proteins. But this differs from person to person according to their body’s capacity.
Nuts contain an ingredient called tannin. Since they have very high amount of fiber and fat content it sometimes does not support your digestive system. A lot of nuts at one time moves through the digestive tract very slowly thus interrupting the digestive process.

So the best way is to wash them and then eat. Vegetables should be washed before they are cut. When we wash vegetables after cutting them, then all the vitamins and minerals present in them get washed away along with water.
